As we begin gathering land preservation tax credits for our customers to purchase in 2012, a comment on the 2011 market is in order. Credits seemed to be in short supply starting in September 2011. We received an unprecedented number of inquiries from buyers whose customary sources were sold out. To hedge a recurrence, consider making your 2012 purchase earlier in the year.

We screen the supporting documentation for land preservation tax credits before we agree to sell them. To our knowledge, none of the credits we've sold have been challenged or adjusted by the Virginia Department of Taxation; nor have any of the underlying donations been challenged or adjusted by the Internal Revenue Service. In the event of a challenge, our agreement provides for the seller to defend the credits and underlying donation. In the event of an adjustment, our agreement provides for the seller to indemnify credit buyers.
